Valley of Flowers is a wonderful national park located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The nearest airport to reach the valley is Jolly Grant, Dehradun. By rail, Haridwar or Rishikesh stations are nearby. By road, you have to reach Govindghat from Joshimath and start trekking. The first day's trek is from Govindghat to Ghangaria (~9 km), and the second day's trek is from Ghangaria to the valley (~4 km one way). There is no vehicular access to the valley, so trekking is mandatory. During the trek, the trekkers get to see mountain views, waterfalls and various flowers.

5. Travel Tips

Before visiting the valley, trekkers should wear sturdy and slip-proof trekking shoes. It is essential to bring rain gear, power bank and first aid. Mobile network in the area is poor beyond Joshimath, so it is important to plan ahead. Avoid using plastic to protect the environment and do not litter during the trek. Trekkers can experience the natural beauty and serenity of the Himalayas during the trek.

6. Accommodation

Budget guesthouses and eco-lodges are available in Ghangaria, which offer comfortable accommodation and local food facilities to the trekkers. Camping is not allowed inside the valley, and travelers are required to leave the valley by evening. The guesthouses and lodges here offer travelers a unique experience of natural beauty and mountain tranquility. If you are planning to visit here, there are very good accommodation options, so don't stress and plan accordingly.

The Pushpavati River flows through the valley and is an ideal place for photography. The best time is early morning or after the rains. The scenery, colorful flowers and waterfalls here are Instagram-perfect for nature lovers and photographers. The use of drones in the valley is prohibited without permission. This place offers travelers the opportunity to enjoy natural colors, Himalayan views and tranquility.

The entry fee is ₹150 for Indian travelers and ₹600 for foreign travelers, which is valid for 3 days. A guide is not required, but guides are available in Ghangaria. The park timings are from 7 am to 5 pm. A trip to the valley allows travelers to experience natural beauty, peace, and a unique experience of the Himalayas.
